Service overview

What we do, who it's for, and when it matters.

What it is

Fault diagnosis and repair on gas combi, system and regular boilers — including no-heat, no-hot-water, pressure loss, error codes, kettling, banging, leaks and lockouts. We diagnose to root cause and price the fix before starting work.

Who it's for

Homeowners with a boiler that's stopped working, warning them, or costing more to run; landlords needing a fast, compliant fix between tenancies; and anyone who's been quoted a full replacement when a targeted repair would do the job.

When you need it

Losing pressure weekly, error codes, no heat or hot water, banging or kettling on start-up, water where there shouldn't be any, or a burner that keeps locking out — call early rather than wait. Small faults get expensive when ignored.

Why professional matters

Gas work is Gas Safe registered work by law. A proper repair also treats the cause — a broken diverter valve, for example, is usually a symptom of sludge, poor filtration or a wrongly commissioned system. Fixing only the symptom means the same fault comes back.

The cost of leaving it

Small problems don't stay small.

Boiler repairs get expensive when they're rushed, guessed or done by whoever's cheapest. A £150 diagnostic done properly can save a £3,000 replacement. A £150 diagnostic done badly is just the first of several.

Same fault, six months later

Fitting a new part without treating the cause — sludge, poor commissioning, wrong controls — almost always means the same failure again inside a year.

Water damage from a slow leak

A drip inside the boiler casing or from a corroded heat exchanger can wreck flooring, ceilings and plaster before you spot it. Insurance often disputes unmaintained-appliance claims.

Carbon monoxide risk

A blocked flue, cracked heat exchanger or badly burning boiler can produce CO — colourless, odourless, potentially fatal. Every repair visit includes a flue gas analysis.

Warranty voided

Non-Gas Safe repairs, missed services or wrong parts void manufacturer warranties. That £3,000 warranty becomes worthless when you need it most.

Common mistakes we see

  • Topping up pressure weekly instead of finding the leak.
  • Replacing a diverter valve without flushing the sludge that killed it.
  • Ignoring persistent error codes with a reset button.
  • Using an unregistered fitter because they're cheaper on the day.
  • Assuming a lockout is 'just the boiler being funny'.
  • Waiting until January to fix a fault that started in September.
Our process

A tidy, engineered process — no surprises.

Every job follows the same disciplined sequence, so you always know where we are and what's next.

  1. Step 1

    Phone triage

We ask the right questions before we visit — error code, boiler make/model, symptoms — so we arrive with the right parts on the van.

  2. Step 2

    On-site diagnosis

Full fault-find: pressure, flow, gas rate, flue gas analysis, controls, sensors and the sealed system. We tell you the cause, not just the symptom.

  3. Step 3

    Fixed price before work starts

Written price for the fix — including any parts and labour — before we start. You approve the number before we open the toolbox.

  4. Step 4

    Root-cause repair

We fix the underlying issue as well as the symptom — flush and dose where sludge is at fault, replace filters where they're missing, resolve controls issues properly.

  5. Step 5

    Recommission & handover

Flue gas analysis, pressure and lockout test on the fixed boiler. You get a written record and a 12-month workmanship guarantee on the parts we've fitted.

What you get

Specific outcomes — not vague promises.

Root-cause diagnosis

We fix the cause, not just the symptom. Fewer repeat visits, fewer parts, less money spent long-term.

Fixed price before we start

Written price for the repair before work begins. No 'while we're here' surprises.

12-month workmanship guarantee

Every job we complete carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee, on top of any manufacturer warranty on parts fitted.

Gas Safe every visit

Gas Safe Reg. 636807. Every repair recommissioned with flue gas analysis and a written record.

Honest advice

If a repair genuinely isn't worth doing, we say so — and quote the replacement transparently. No pressure either way.

One point of contact

The engineer who diagnoses is the engineer who fixes. No handoffs, no re-explaining the fault.

Common faults we repair

Most boiler faults trace back to a handful of causes. Diagnosis matters more than the part number — the same error code can mean three different faults on the same boiler.

  • No heat or no hot water — diverter valves, sensors, pumps, controls.
  • Pressure loss — hidden leaks, expansion vessels, pressure relief valves.
  • Kettling, banging, whistling — limescale, sludge, poor commissioning.
  • Frequent lockouts and error codes — flame sensors, ignition, gas supply.
  • Leaks — heat exchangers, seals, fittings, pipework.

Repair vs replace — the honest conversation

Some repairs aren't worth doing. If a heat exchanger has failed on a 12-year-old boiler with no warranty left, replacement usually beats repair on total cost of ownership. We tell you the numbers both ways so you can choose — no pressure toward the bigger job.

Sludge, filtration and system health

Most 'boiler faults' are really system faults. A boiler running on a sludged, un-filtered system will fail parts on rotation. A power flush, chemical dose and a magnetic filter often resolves recurring faults far more permanently than swapping parts.

Landlords and letting agents

For landlords we can pair a repair with a CP12 Landlord Gas Safety Record and any remedial work in a single visit. Certificates emailed on the day.

FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

How much does a boiler repair cost?+

It depends on the fault, the parts, and the boiler's condition. We diagnose first, then give you a fixed written price for the fix before starting any work — no open-ended hourly billing.

Do you offer emergency same-day boiler repair?+

We prioritise existing customers when things go wrong and we work Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm. Call 07582 870312 as early in the day as possible — same-day slots go fast, especially in winter. We do not operate a 24/7 line.

My boiler is losing pressure — is that expensive to fix?+

Often it's a small leak or a failed expansion vessel — cheap to fix once found. Occasionally it's a heat exchanger, which is a bigger job. We diagnose properly before quoting.

Should I just replace instead of repair?+

Sometimes yes. On a 12+ year old boiler with a major fault and no warranty, replacement usually wins on total cost. We give you both prices honestly and let you decide.

Do you repair all boiler brands?+

Yes — Worcester, Vaillant, ATAG, Baxi, Ideal, Viessmann, Alpha and most other domestic gas boilers. We source genuine manufacturer parts wherever possible.

Does the repair come with a guarantee?+

Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee, plus any manufacturer warranty on new parts fitted.

What if you can't fix it in one visit?+

If a part needs ordering we tell you the lead time and don't charge for a second visit's mobilisation — just the fix.

Are you Gas Safe registered?+

Yes — Gas Safe registration number 636807. Every gas repair is legally required to be carried out by a Gas Safe engineer.

What areas do you cover?+

Rochdale, Oldham, Manchester, Salford, Bury, Ashton-under-Lyne, Heywood, Middleton, Shaw and surrounding Greater Manchester areas.
